Q: Im looking to part out a 2002 ford explorer sport trac… I am wondering some prices?
I am investing in a 2002 Ford Explorer Sport Trac and am wondering if anyone knows some prices for certain parts… all answers are appreciated. Thank you
A: For some good pricing go to WWW. Junkyarddog.com There you will need to fill out some required information but you will receive fast responses
Q: ¿What part (sensor, etc) in a 2002 Ford Explorer activates the door locks at a certain speed?
What part activates automatically the door locks at a certain speed in a 2002 Ford Explorer XLS?
A: The auto-lock feature is a joint effort from numerous systems, and there is not one sensor responsible for it. I guess ill give you the long version so you understand the entire system:
The BCM, body control module (heart of the interior), recieves a vehicle speed from the pcm (powertrain control module), which recieves ITs signal from the vehicle speed sensor in the rear or transmission. So the BCM knows what speed to look for, to send a ground signal to the power locks relay, locking the doors.
Some manufacturers give you the option to disable this feature (GM for example). Check the owners manual first to see if “auto-locking” can be turned on or off. If not, manually disabling this system is possible, but I couldn’t tell you without reading the schematics for the BCM and power locks circuits. There is probably a wire that can be snipped or moved, but that could affect other systems too, and a circuit schematic is the only way to know for sure.
Q: I just got a 02 Ford Explorer and I want planning on working on it. What is a good website for parts?
I just got a 2002 Ford Explorer what is a good website where I can find kits, rims, and parts? So I can “pimp” it out?
BTW Im not looks for replacement parts. It works just fine and looks fine, I just want to make it look better.
A: Go to jcwhitney.com They sell replacement and after market parts. Also you can try looking on google searching for “body kit for 2002 explorer” or something like that. Get you some nice 22’s please dont get the spinners but just some regular 22’s (all black) with a nice sounds system and some 3% tint all the way around except the front windsheild and you’ll be set. All the people will be jockin you but be aware, doing anything other than the way it comes from the factory is drawing attention to your self so if you live in a not so friendly neighbor hood I would becareful about anything “extra” you do to your car
Q: where do u find part numbers for a 2002 ford explorer?
i need to find the part number for the rear wheel bearing i have looked at napa and autozone but those numbers r their own inventory numbers
i need the numbers because where i live there is a bearing plant that makes the part i need so to make sure i get the right part i need the number
A: The part number for a rear wheel bearing on a 2002 Ford Explorer is 6L2Z-1215-A. Here is a link where you can order it. Hope this helps.
https://www.tituswillfordparts.com/cart/?pn=3L2Z-1215-AA
ADDED: Are you intending on replacing it yourself? On this particular vehicle, a bearing press is required for removal and installation. If you are intending on doing this, I strongly recommend you remove only the rear hub and knuckle as an assembly, and pay a shop to press out the old bearing, and install the new one for you.
Q: I need to know what a part on my ford explorer is called?
I have a 2002 Ford Explorer. On the front there is a plastic part coming from under the hood up to my windshield, the wiper blades are attached to this piece. Can anyone tell me what this part is called?
A: It sounds like the cowl vent. For that vehicle, it should be in two pieces and span the entire width of the engine compartment.
Q: how much are ball bearings for 2002 ford explorer?
how much are the parts for a ball bearing for a 2002 ford explorer
A: There are many things on your vehicle that have bearings, and very few are ball bearings.
What is it you are trying to replace?
Q: how much does it cost to replace a transmission in a 2002 Ford Explorer?
The Ford autoshop is quoting me $5700 but they are willing to beat any other price. It only has 71K miles, is 4WD but has been driven pretty gently – only on the freeway for the most part.
What options do I have other than fork out $5700?
A: No, that is a rip off…. it dosent matter if your vehicle is 4wd cuz the trans dosent have anything to do with that… your transfer case and front diff are sepparate from the transmission. Anyway you can get a new one from 1500-3000$
Q: I need to replace my 2002 Ford Explorer XLS V6 ’s rear sway bar bushing or insulator. What material is best?
I read that the oem part is made of rubber, while there are others that are made of a polyurethane material, which is supposed to last longer. 1) What are the pros and cons of each? 2) Is there an aftermarket replacement for that part?
A: Go with the rubber! The reason the manufacture uses rubber is it’s quiet. When you go with the poly. you can hear your suspension flex. That’s fine if you have headers and a loud exhaust.
On the other hand, poly. bushings are stronger and more durable. So, if you can deal with constant squeaking…. Good luck.
Q: 2002 Ford Explorer Brake Light Switch Junk?
I took my brake light switch out an popped it open quickly realizing it is junk. I’ve searched all over the internet for hours on end and cannot find a replacement part. Im stressing having to go to the dealer and pay 100$ for a 10$ part. Can anyone help me part number: YFIT-13480-AA, Car: 2002 Ford Explorer XLT 6 cyl 4.0L
I have called auto zone and they said the part was 143$ and they had discontinued it because it was so pricey. Napa has it for 16$ ordering from there manufactuarer 25$ total and the Ford Dealership has it for 95$ might just go with the cheap one at napa going to check a couple more auto salvages. Incredibly pricey for a plastic box with 2 pieces of copper.
A: It is about $20 at the stealership, Call Auto zone they have it for under $10, it is a very poor design compared to the Japanese. I’ve replaced twice on mine and have found that the cheaper one at Auto Zone last longer and of course cheaper too.
Q: instructions and/or advice needed on repairing and/or replacing window lift motor on 2002 Ford Explorer.?
If any of you know where I can find instructions on the internet for removing and installing a window lift motor (driver’s door) on a 2002 Ford Explorer, please let me know. Also, if you know anything about window motors and diagnosing problems, please read the rest of this post and let me know if you think I’m on the right track.
Yesterday, my wife had the window down on her vehicle for about 45 minutes while talking to a friend outside of a store. She rolled the window up and went into the store for a few minutes and when she came back outside she started the vehicle. She said when she turned the key that the driver’s window, which is equipped with an automatic switch on the master window control panel, rolled down on its own-nobody pushed the switch. She tried to roll the window up and it wouldn’t move-all of the other windows work fine using the switches on the same panel.
Last spring the same window was stuck in the down position and the driver’s window switch on the master control felt different than the rest when it was pressed down, so I tore it apart and eventually exposed the metal contacts and was able to use a wire and jump across them to get the window up. I then replaced the control with a used part I got off of eBay and it worked fine until yesterday.
I thought the switch had possibly gone bad like the other one had, so I tore it apart (ruining the switch in the process) and tried to jump across the leads-this created a lot of sparks but the window didn’t budge-the switch still works for the rest of the windows. I was able to track down a car with a compatible switch(2003 Crown Victoria) and hooked it up to the plug on my wife’s window and it started smoking so I disconnected it-now that switch won’t work on the other vehicle’s driver side window however the other windows work fine using the other switches on the control.
Does the sparking, smoke, and so forth indicate that there is a short of some type in the wiring or the motor? Would the motor having gone bad cause this to happen and is there any way to check to see if the motor is bad or if there is some other problem in the wiring? I was told that it would probably cost between $400 and $500 to have this repaired at the dealership and I’ve found the lift motor and switch for less than $100 and would like to fix this myself if I can do it without ruining the parts or burning up the car. Thanks for any advice you can give.
A: To test the motor run 2 jumper wires from the battery its simple there’s a 2 lead connector going to the window lift motor. To go up and down it just reverses polarity/Foward and reverse.Take the door panel off and power up the motor with a ground wire to 1 side of the 2 wire connector and a positive jumper wire to the other terminal and if if it doesn’t do anything reverse the wires. If the motor still don’t do anything, you need a motor. If it does go up or down then you got other problems. If you see things smoking thats where the problem is.In the auto repair industry its called smoking out the problem.Burning/smoking electrical parts are caused by high resistance,no good.yousualy if a part smokes its no good.
Q: 2002 FORD EXPLORER PLASTIC OR METAL CALIPER?
I am replacing the caliper on the rear passenger side of my car. when i ordered the part they asked metal or plastic i said metal because it was metal, i thought, when i got the old caliper off they did not look the same at all…do i have a plastic one??
A: You need to look at the piston in the caliper. It will be metal or a plastic material.
Q: could i put these engines into a 2002 ford explorer xlt 4×4 v8?
if i cant put these engines in it which engines could i? http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts/part_details.asp?PartKeyField=9560 http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts/category.asp?catID=56&catdesc=Complete%20Engines what else would i need to change out if i could and would these actually fit and work i know some may think its stupid of me to put a new engine into a 2002 with a perfect 4.6 but i want to make sort of a hot rod truck out of it
A: Hi
I don`t see why not. The best info to get your answer is to call a scrap yard and have them cross reference it to make sure . And tell them that you would like to know if they may have the parts to help you out.
Q: 2002 Ford Explorer Limited V8 Starting problems?
When starting the car will idle and rev as long as I have my foot on the gas pedal. Once I take my foot of the gas the car dies. I have to have one foot on gas, and another on brake to get it into gear. In Drive or Reverse car will die the minute I take my foot off of gas.
A friend told me it might be a sensor problem. I just had the oil changed last week, the car has around 75,000 miles on it.
My friend told me I can take the car to an advanced auto parts or pep boys to run a scan on it. Are these sensors easy to replace?
I have an Advance car store near by, I might be able to make it there.
Please advise
A: did it happen after you have your oil change? then check your vacuum hoses ,might have fall off ,,,
if you have it scan, most likely problem,,IAC,easy to replace,,
EGR hard to replace,,these two produce a lean code
one problem is you did not mention your engine size,,
if 4.0 manifold gasket problem, dealer have TSB on it,,
Q: Y-Pipe for 2002 Ford Explorer.?
So, i need a new one. My warranty expired and the dealer wants over $1,000 for it. Its got 3 catalytic converters on it. 2 at the top of the Y and one at the end of the Y where the pipes come together.
Anyone out there work for a Ford Dealership or know someone that works at a Dealership and can offer me their discount?
Or perhaps personally know of a junk yard that would have a freshly recked exploder from 2002-2005.
I am in the Washington DC metro/NOVA area.
I have the installation covered. I just need the part.
Thanks
I have looked for aftermarket parts and no one makes it. Not Walker Mufflers or any other legitimate exhaust company.
A: you CANNOT buy a used one from a salvage yard,it’s against federal law. However, you can buy a “re-certified” one at brownrecycling.com for much less than a new one
Q: Rattling underneath 2002 Ford Explorer Sport?
Hi All
Last week I noticed a thin piece of steel hanging down from the undercarrige of my Explorer. I looked under and it appeared that the piece was part of the muffler (or what helps the muffler stay in place). Anyway, when I got home to check it out again, the piece was gone. Most likely fell off on the way home. Well a couple of days later, I noticed a rattling sound when I speed up. The sound is coming from that area. It’s only when I am in drive, and only when I first hit the gas. I can’t hear a sound otherwise when I am driving..
Any suggestions would be appreciated. I am going to take it in, but, I don’t want to get fleeced and have them fix something they shouldn’t.
Thanks
A: the heat shield above the muffler or catalyic converter has come loose or rusted and as you say some of it fell off but maybe there is still a piece of it up there rattling against the body or muffler.
