Q: Where can i buy a new or used 2000 Ford Explorer front Bumper?
i need thissss!!!!!
I saw some on Ebay. What do they mean by covers, isnt it a bumper. And can they be trusted???
A: Ebay, or your local ford dealer can probably help you find one.
Q: How do i use the 4 wheel drive on a 2000 Ford Explorer, Have never used it before.?
I have had this SUV for just over a year, not sure how to use the 4X4, it didnt come with a manuel, I am not sure if it needs to be in park or do you just turn the button while driving. thanks for any help.
A: You should be able to shift it in on the fly (while the vehicle is moving). I always try to keep the vehicle as slow as possible or stop before I put it in. You’ll feel a lugging in the front end when turning, and you shouldn’t drive it when the roads are dry.
Q: We are considering buying a used Ford Explorer (1997-2000).?
For those who have owned one, please tell me what you like or dislike about them. What are some common problems?
A: i loved mine. when i hit a tree going about 35-40 both air bags activated. car was totaled but i was unhurt. the large hooded front was a blessing. its a good safe vehicle i think.
Q: No Oil Preasure After Oil System Flush on a 2000 Ford Explorer?
I bought a used 2000 Ford Explorer and it hadnt been serviced well in the past. I took it for a full tune up and they recommended a oil system flush. Before doing so I drove it for a few weeks and oil preasure was fine. After the oil system flush however when cold right after I start it theres no oil preasure. A mile or two later it jumps up, and stays normal until its real cold again. I have changed oil a few times since but the problem persists. So far I dont hear any knocking or anything like that, just normal ford sounds. Does anyone have any idea what happened or how to fix it?
Thanks for all the info so far.. I might add that when it goes from no preasure to normal preasure it goes there FAST.. its like instantly reflected on the gauge, and will sometimes flicker for a second
A: have a oil pressure gauge put on when engine is cold to see real oil pressure if this shows up ok then oil pressure switch needs replacing, if not may have oil pump problem or a cheap oil filter may have been used.i would have this done asap as the mile you are driving with low oil pressure could be doing damage to engine

Q: Ford Explorer 2000 transmission fluid and filter help?
Hi am haveing some truble with my Frod:
I have a quick question. My 2000 Ford Explorer 4.0 liter V-6. automatic transmission ,
The car has 80,680 miles. the other day when I stepped on the gas a little harder than usual the transmission felt just like a standard transmission when you miss a shift. The engine revved and the tach rpm jumped and at list twice my OD/OFF came on blinking none stop i had to shut of the engine to reset it
I also took it in to have it fluched they told me they could not get anny pressure ont here mechine they guy said there might be a problem with the transmision
some one said to change the trani filter first then go from there
is that something I can do and easy?
were is it located?
one of my coworkers sejested:
Don’t get it flushed, just replace any fluid that comes out with the filter.
go from there?
I could use some input thanks.
A: It would be kind of hard to change the filter without dropping the pan genius. And dropping the pan only gets about 20% of the fluid out on an Explorer.
If there’s no fluid pressure and you’re not out of fluid the pump is bad. All they do when they flush its break the cooler line at the radiator and let the pump push out the old fluid while they run new fluid back to the transmission. The transmission is still young enough that I’d get a shop to replace the pump before I got a rebuilt.
Q: Can someone help me with my 2000 Ford explorer Sport ?
The “ABS” light is on in my Explorer. I kind of think that it might have a blown fuse. Since I bought the truck used it didn’t come with an owners manual. I’m looking for the fuse number of the ABS. If someone has this information, could you please share it with me ? Thank you in advance !
A: Here is the link to download a free owners manual courtesy of Fords website. The manual is in pdf format so you can easily download & save to your computer for future reference.
http://www.motorcraftservice.com/pubs/content/~WOYEXP/~MUS~LEN/41/00expog1e.pdf
The chapter on fuses & relays starts on page 191
I personally would take Fordgirls advice regarding the ABS light. If the light stays on, It is probably not a fuse.
but you can download the manual for yourself anyway….
good luck.
Q: How can I fix my cd player in my 2000 Ford Explorer?
When you put in a cd, it makes a clicking sound as if it’s trying to either read it, or keep it in. But it then spits it back out and it then goes to the radio. But it does play when not used for a couple days. Does anyone know of any websites that I may visit? (Free Sites)
A: I woould call the Service Dept. at a Ford Dealer and see where the send factory stereos to get repaired. When I worked at a Ford dealership (10 years as a technician), we shipped them to an authorized repair shop. Or you could just go with an aftermarket stereo. It would probably be cheaper IMHO.
Q: remanufactured engines for a 2000 ford explorer?
My engine has a bad timing belt,2 weeks after i got it tuned up!
I was wondering what kind of engine I should replace it with, a used, rebuilt or a remanufactured.
I’ve been told this vehicle has a problem with this kind of item.
Any advice would be appreciated.
A: A rebuilt engine will be fine
Q: Lost my 2000 ford explorer key and remote entry and was wondering what to do?
I have no spare, but can use a slim jim to get into the car. The dealership said it would be $300 to make a new key, was wondering if anyone has successfully bought the keys/ remote off of google and been able to re-program.
A: The keys in most cars nowadays have a chip that has to be specialy programed that sends a frequency to the engine to make sure the key isn’t a fake copy. There is a whole process you can go through if you have two other programmed keys, but if you don’t have them then you can’t make one yourself and you have to go to the dealer.
Q: What would insurance cost on 98-2000 ford explorer?
I want to get an older suv to use in the winter somewhere between a 1998-2001. I dont expect it to be nice so I dont plan on carrying comprehensive coverage on it – only collision.
A: Try this site
http://www.usainsurancequotes.net/
Here you can compare quotes from different companies
Q: Tire Preferences …For 2000 Ford Explorer…?
I bought my Explorer used and when i purchased it…There were Mich. LTX M/S tires on there…I do alot of highway driving …NO off road…The ride is very rough could different tires improve it? HELP it rides very BAD
A: you should stick with the michelin ltx. the best tire for ride and quietness i’ve seen. stay away from the goodyear wranglers. not that good a ride and i have seen a lot of tire balance issues with them. the continentals are good too, but michelins are the best.

We got it off with the pulley tool but not we cant figure out how to use the same tool to get the new one back on!
A: not sure what your doing remove pump shoul dremove belt then there should be four bolts or nuts holding it on and two lines not sure why you removing pulley but shouldnt need do unless new pump didnt have a pulley on it and if the didnt you should be able to tap it back on and put in clip or bolts to hold it sorry
Q: Is a 1996-2000 Ford Explorer (100k+mi) sport or non sport a good car to buy for my 16 year old?
He probably won’t use it much, we live in a small town. Probably just to get to school and hang w/friends on the weekend.
A: You should also consider that such a car may be expensive to insure. Check your insurance rates before buying one, for example here – autoinsurance.maclenet.com
Q: is a 2000 Ford Explorer 4×4………?
Is a 2000 Ford Explorer 4×4 with 151,000 miles a good buy for a SUV
Meaning is the gas mileage good and all the common questions that go along with buying a used vehicle. I tried researching it myself but didn’t get any answers on this particular SUV. So I am asking for help.
A: ehhhh.. It is a nice looking vehicle, but the mileage is extremly high for a Ford and it love to drink. If you trying to conserve gas try the Honda CRV or the Toyota Rav4 these Japanese vehicles tend to last a very long time compared to the Ford. I have the same year Ranger and decided to install a factory new engine.
