Q: wanting parts for 2000 ford explorer xlt?
does anyone know where i can find a descent grill for a 2000 ford explorer xlt?, coz im sick of the plastic standard one it came with,
also does anyone know if it possible to get an engine for it thats better than the standard ford engines?, or any possible changes i could make to it to get some power into the thing?
A: Go to the following link on Google Shopping. There are tons of grills for under $200.
As far as getting more power, forget the engine replacement. unless you have about $7000. But if your Ford has a 4.0L there are many ignition, fuel delivery, and intake and exhaust changes you can make, including a supercharger, to get more power.
You could also go with a different gear ratio in the rear end. You probably have a 2.73 or a 3.60, you could move to a 3.73 or 4.10 and get all kinds of ‘power’.
However, with the days of $4 gasoline just around the corner, you might be better off buying a tuner car or something that at least gets better than 17 MPG on the highway because everything I’ve mentioned will cause your MPG to plummet.
Q: Does anyone know of any cheap places to buy body parts for a 2000 Ford Explorer?
I need a passenger side front fender, passenger side front door, drivers side back door and the panel at the bottom( don’t know what it’s called).
A: http://car-part.com/
Q: my fuel pump went out on by 2000 ford explorer. what is a fair repair price for parts and labor?
The guy started me out at $900 and I talked him down to $450. He said the pump part cost was $250 and the rest was labor and shop materials.
A: 450 is fair for a mechanic to do it. It’d be even cheaper to do it yourself. You can email me if you want me to walk you through how to do it.
Edit: You don’t have to “bleed the injectors.” You’ll just have to turn the key a few times to get gas up to the injectors before it’ll start up.
Q: I am trying to find the name of a part on my 2000 Ford Explorer?
I have a 2000 Ford Explorer 4.0, sohc. I have a vacuum leak and have narrowed it down to a part beneath the battery and just above the front of the driver side wheel. My brother in law says it is the EGR vaccum Cylinoid, but I can’t find any such thing when looking for parts. It has two med size hoses that come out of the side that definitely has air flowing through them and then a tiny what line that attaches at the bottom. Any idea what this is called. If has a pretty large hole in it and the car idles rough then dies. When I place my finger over the hole the engine runs smooth and almost as good as when I got the car 154.700 mile ago.
A: Vacuum Canister… not cylinoid (Solenoid actually).

Q: 2000 ford explorer wipers broke. Need part.?
I don’t know the name of the part I need. It is a 2000 Ford Explorer and the whole assembly that the wipers connect to between the windshield and the wiper motor (the part that holds it all together) broke. I don’t know the part name to look up the price on the internet. The mechanic said I have to purchase it directly from Ford and called it the wiper assembly, but I am having no luck finding that part. Please Help!!!
A: you can go to the ford dealer and they’ll pull it up on there computer show you the picture find out how much and go from there
Q: How much would a spindle for a 2000 ford explorer cost?
The spindle is stripped and needs to be changed, is that something that must go to a repair shop, or can it be fixed by you, if you know how and have the parts to do so.
A: i spent 100 dollars for a spindle on a 94 explorer from a junk yard it would prolly be the same for you could not get one from any auto part stores
Q: Where can I find a center console lid for my 2000 Ford Explorer?
I’ve looked at several car parts sites but I can’t seem to find a replacement center console lid. Ours is worn and dirty and I’d like to replace it to help it sell.
A: i would check out a local junk yard.
Q: how do I set the clock on the radio in my 2000 ford explorer?
I need to reset the time on the clock that is part of the radio in my ford explorer and have no idea how to do it I would all so like to reset the currently programmed radio stations, does anyone know how to do this or where I can find out how to do it
A: I have a 1997 ford explorer and I have to hold the clock button down and use the scan button to change the time. but its been a year since I did it so I will need to re-check that. I might be right though.
Q: How do I fix the door handles on the outside driver’s side of a 2000 Ford Explorer?
It’s broken where the door handle meets the part that opens the door. And the passenger side is broken too.
A: UNLESS YOU ARE MECHANICALLY INCLINED THIS WILL NOT BE AN EASY JOB. REMOVE THE DOOR PANEL. REMOVE THE INSULATION AT THE TOP RIGHT TO GET ACCESS TO THE HANDLE THERE SHOULD BE TWO BOLTS HOLDING THE HANDLE ASSEMBLY TO THE DOOR-SKIN. THERE ARE TWO RODS WITH PLASTIC CLIPS HOLDING THEM TO THE LATCH ASSEMBLY RELEASE THESE. REMOVE THE THREE TORX BOLTS THAT HOLD THE LATCH ASSEMBLY TO THE DOOR SO THAT YOU HAVE MORE ROOM TO REMOVE THE HANDLE THUR THE OPENING. ACCESSIBILITY IS NOT GOOD REACHING ANY OF THE ABOVE SO HOPE YOU DON’T HAVE HUGE FORE-ARMS.
Q: How can I sell my 2000 Ford Explorer Sport?
I have signs up, an add in a want ad digest car thingy and still not a single call…it’s been for sale for 2 months now. Am I ever going to sell this thing? It’s a good vehicle, new parts and just had a tune up, oil change and such…I even replaced some expensive parts about a month before I took it off the road!!! Any suggestions???
it has 110k…..My husband suggested putting 5500 obo on it…so that’s what we did…I don’t know the KBB on it…I can only say that I don’t really want to sell it but we have to…we have 3 vehicles…a Matrix and a Ford 150 pickup with a full back seat..we have 3 kids and the Explorer only sits 4 so it’s not really a good vehicle for us to go anywhere as a family in….I have a sign on it…and it gets moved around…but we live 45 min. from anywhere and that makes it a little hard…
Excellent
$7,450
Good
$6,925
Fair
$6,260
KBB value for private party retail…I would say my SUV falls in the Good category
A: pry off the ford badges on the grill and back liftgate. try to convince the buyer that its a toyota.
Q: 2000 ford explorer adding more HP?
what can I add to get beter gas milage on my FE
anny after market parts or high performance parts
I have a Ford explorer 4.0L SOHC V6
A: I wouldn’t get any high performance parts to save gas mileage. You car has a air/fuel ratio in must obtain. In simplest form, for sake of example, you add cold air induction. The problem is that the more air you ram in, the more gas the engine’s computer will give it, thus dropping your mpg. Make sure your tires are inflated to the correct psi, have good spark plugs and plug wires, good clean air cleaner, and have your throttle body and IAT sensor (located in your air intake) cleaned and you should see an improvement if any of these were not up to par. If you just want HP, get some headers, cat-back exhaust, cold air intake, larger throttle body, pcm programmer, ignition system like MSD, lower resistance plug wires, convert your clutch fan to an electric, or just go and buy a Dodge.
Good luck and happy motoring.
Q: 2000 ford explorer center console replacement?
I have a 200 ford exp SLT. It has a cloth armrest and cant seem to find a replacement a it old and dirty… Want to replace it but with out luck…. I seen on places like eBay that have the vinyl. Does any one know if there is an interchangeable part for the 2000 armrest??
A: Center arm rest is detachable. Another solution is to have a auto upholstery shop recover it. Split bench seat? Ranger may work also.
Q: anyone have a diagram for a 2000 ford explorer driver side?
I’m no mechanic, but i just got the locking mechanism part in i ordered and so i need to know how it is placed in the door. it would be great if i got some kind of picture or a link i can get it that would be great thanks.
A: GO TO AUTOZONE/ADVANCED AUTO OR WALMART AND PICK UP A HANES REPAIR MANUAL FOR YOUR SUV THERE NOT MUCH AND HELP VERY MUCH…THERE WILL BE A DIAGRAM IN THERE AND STEP-BY-STEP PLUS IF YOU HAVE ANY OTHER PROBLEMS..
GOOD LUCK
