Q: How can I sell my 2000 Ford Explorer Sport?
I have signs up, an add in a want ad digest car thingy and still not a single call…it’s been for sale for 2 months now. Am I ever going to sell this thing? It’s a good vehicle, new parts and just had a tune up, oil change and such…I even replaced some expensive parts about a month before I took it off the road!!! Any suggestions???
it has 110k…..My husband suggested putting 5500 obo on it…so that’s what we did…I don’t know the KBB on it…I can only say that I don’t really want to sell it but we have to…we have 3 vehicles…a Matrix and a Ford 150 pickup with a full back seat..we have 3 kids and the Explorer only sits 4 so it’s not really a good vehicle for us to go anywhere as a family in….I have a sign on it…and it gets moved around…but we live 45 min. from anywhere and that makes it a little hard…

72 Ford F-100 4×4 4-speed manual transmission , 9″ ford rearend , manual lockouts
very nice clean low mile (69,700) from Wyoming all orginal except newer elderbrock
carb. runs/drives excelent. everything works. e-brake works good has very good brakes
gets around 12-13 mpg maybey better depending on how you drive . Has plenty of power
trans shifs good no funny noises. only rust is on lower front fender on drivers side
and has some bed side damage on drivers side as you can see in pictures. overall this
is a really good truck!! i would drive anywhere. will go 60 mph all day long.
tires are not the greatest but should hold up for a while. priced at $1800.00

A: A 96 Taurus wagon ??? Do the math that car is 14 years old they should be paying you to take it….
The 2000 Explorer sounds a bit better although every explorer that I have seen is usually plagued with costly mechanical problems.It also sounds like the owner has already gotten all f the good from this car.
2000 Saturn , if the car has not been run ragged it might be ok , Saturns have some engine issues and their plastic fenders and components are prone to splitting.But the mileage sounds good also the price.
98 Jeep for 2000 not a bad price but look it over. The Jeep that I have that has 200k plus has been a pretty good vehicle it is a 94.
The 72 Ford pickup , Those old trucks usually are bullet proof but you better be prepared to pay at the pump. They guzzle gas.
Q: 1998 Ford Explorer vs mid 1990’s Nissan Pathfinder…what do you think?
Its time for me to upgrade to a 4 wheel drive thats semi decent on gas. I have narrowed it down to these two options. (Feel free to offer suggestions for cars that I may have missed.)
ONE: My cousin is willing to sell me his 1998 Ford Explorer XLT with a 5 speed manual transmission and 4wd. He claims it is the stock V8 they put in the mustangs but I have done my research and can’t find a model thats a V8 with 4wd anywhere. He doesnt really know what he’s talking about when it comes to cars. Anyways, its in pretty damn good shape, it has a little over 99,000 miles. Their are no issues apparent to me. I drove it, and it drives really well. I totally understand that these cars are NOT good on gas, but heres the catch: He is willing to sell it to me for only 1500. He is a trustworthy guy, and he is family. He is only the second owner. He is only selling it because he got a new truck, and does not drive it. I drive very little just to school and back, and I would like to take it to Tahoe, and maybe 4 wheeling down at Pismo Beach. I have read mixed reviews on this model, but it seems to be decent. I just need something reliable, 4wd, and some room to get my drums around.
TWO: I have seen quite a few early to mid 90’s Pathfinders on Craigslist for sale. I really do like the look, and like the reviews on them ever more. They are roomy, and extremly reliable. They are pretty good on gas as well. Best of all, they are semi affordable. BTW, I cannot pay much more than 2000 for a car. Part time job and being a student living on my own doesnt allow me to purchase a brand new car right now. The only issue with the majority of the pathfinders I am seeing is that they typically will have 200,000 miles or more on them within this price range. I do not have the time or the money to have the engine overhauled anytime soon, and I don’t want to risk this being a problem.
So I am just looking for opinions and/or ideas. Keep in mind that I want something that isn’t too bad on gas, I want a stick shift, 4wd, and best of all, affordable. My 82 Volvo just isnt cutting it anymore. While it is reliable, I need something with a little more power, and 4wd. I am not too excited on owning a ford, as I was raised with a family who hated american cars, but I may be willing to give this a shot.

$1100.00 O.B.O 1997 Eddie Bauer Limited Edition Ford Explorer, power windows, power locks, Black with gray leather interior, interior and exterior are in good condition.Tires are new firestones. This vehicle does need the transfer case and the water pump replaced but it runs great. 145,000 + miles. Cant afford to fix it D/T being unemployed.
A: It all depends on what you are using it for. But the grand prix with the 3.8 is a good option. These engines are bullet proof. I have one with 179000 and running strong.
