cheap 1999 Ford Explorer
A: If you just need the lightbulb, go to walmart or something. If you need the whole thing, go to a salvage yard

Q: How do you remove the lens of a brake light of a 1999 Ford Explorer?
I know nothing about cars, Ive just turned 16 aug. 1st and my sis just left for colleage yesturday and I get her car. Her car has a burnt out brake light and is in need of new windshield wipers, and I just really want to figure out how to put in a new brake light on my own, and my dad doesnt know how to remove the brake light lens.. I also have to pay for these reapirs on my own, so I’m trying to solve these small problems in the cheapest way.
A: There were two “good” answers to this question the last time you ask it. 1 hour ago.
Did you read them?
Did you do what they said?
Read the responses to your first question.

Q: I have a 1999 ford explorer that goes through about 4 litres of oil every 2 tanks of gas. What is my cheapest?
A: Cheapest fix? First locate the leak. 1 of 2 ways, steam clean the motor first & then run it a while to see where it comes from, or go to an auto parts store & ask for oil dye. Aprox.$5.00 per bottle. It will show up as yellow/green under uv lighting. (use a blacklight bulb in a droplight available at most stores) That should show you where the leak is and you can go in after it.
Q: Aluminum Rim Cleaning?
My 1999 Ford Explorer has stock 5 spoke rims on it. I am not sure if they’re aluminum or some cheap knock off alloy. The rim itself looks like brake dust has melted into the wheel. Anyway to clean this or should I repaint them?
A: I use Simple Green on my wheels. They are strong enough to clean yet gentle enough not to damage the finish.
If this doesn’t work, you can use a bottle name Goof Off from Home Depot paint section. It comes in a metal bottle and it is good to clean markers, grease, and asphalt off anything.
Once you have them all cleaned, put a coat of wax on the rims after every wash and buff them off as usual. This way you will keep your rims protected and easier to clean next time.
Good Luck.
Q: Which would all of you suggest?
I currently have a 1992 ford explorer, and live in NH [[so obviously I need a 4x4 vehicle for the snow that comes in winter]] It has 169k miles, and gets 18 miles to the gallon at tops.
However, things are slow this time a year when only have a part time job, so I need a cheaper vehicle for when there isn’t any snow on the ground.
I have been looking at several vehicles lately, and it’s come down to these last two.
A 1995 standard 5 speed saturn sc12, 159K miles, for 1,299$ and the only thing it really needs done to it is new rear break pads soon.
Or a 1999 oldsmobile cutlass. 185K miles automatic the only thing wrong with it are the miles. this car is also 1,299$
Which should I get if any? [[I'm keeping the explorer either way]]
Thanks for the opinions in advance
A: I live way up in northern NH and a Ford Explorer is not necessarily going to help. Its safety, performance and reliability may not compare with other types of vehicles. The Saturn or Cutlass may not be your best options. Here is what I would suggest. Check out reliable, safe, good performing, used vehicles at Consumer Reports. Then go to www.autotrader.com to check prices in your part of NH. I would look at used (even higher mileage) Suburus, Hondas and Toyotas, just to see what is available. If nothing else comes up, go with the Saturn even though I know you can do better.
