Q: Can you replace the steering rack SEALS on a 1999 ford explorer XLT?

A: NA
Q: online repair manual for a 1999 Ford Explorer and exploded parts detail?
remove dash and center console parts for repair or replacement
A: The only thing available on-line is by subscription. There is no FREE information. It is available only from the manufacturers, and they charge dearly for it.
You can go here——>
http://www.eautorepair.net/
…and for an annual subscription, you have availability of ALL the published repair information for your car, including diagnostics, repair, remove/replace, illustrations, diagrams, recalls, TSBs etc.
Very good resource. It is virtually the same thing we professionals use, but limited to one car.
Good Luck
Q: Where can I find a schematic of the lock system for a 1999 Ford Explorer Sport?
We have a 1999 Ford Explorer Sport, and the drivers’ side lock has stopped unlocking when we press the button – you have to crawl through the passengers’ side and pull the handle to open the door. My father said that he could fix it if he had a schematic of the locking system, but I can’t find it online. Could anyone provide me with one, or advie pertaining to the situation?
A: try INFO@AHDOL.COM ive had real good luck with them-hope this helps==
Q: 1999 4-Door Ford Explorer (Rear Drivers Side) Actuater….
Yea, I’ve been looking online for and actuater for my ford explorer, but all I can find online are actuater for the front doors (2-door Explorers). I was wondering Does anybody know somewhere online where I can order Rear/back drivers side door Actuator online for a 1999 Ford Explorer???….thanks
A: =check with ford and see if they have the same part number=if so ur in luck==if not ask if they have a front actuator in stock and compare it to your rear one=might just have to drill a hole in a bracket or something stupid to make it work in your truck==also check with salvage yards etc.==
Q: What fuse in my fuse box needs to be changed to fix the overhead console on my 1999 Ford Explorer?
My overhead console has gone out but flashes on when I start my Ford Explorer so I know that the fuse simply needs to be changed. However, I don’t know which fuse needs to be changed. I have looked at online diagrams but none of them specificly states what fuse I need to change. Does anyone know exactly which fuse it is?
A: Probably an instrument fuse or map light fuse. But since it flashes on… one might think something else has gone wrong but a good place to start at is… check the fuse.
Learn how to use a test light. I use test lights to check everything. They will tell you if a fuse is blown, where you have power, where you don’t, if a switch is working or not. Anyone who does not know how to use a test light does not know the basics to diagnose a problem.
I’m not being mean… I just think you will save yourself lots of grief and money if you learn to diagnose with a test light.

I have to replace my tranny and been looking online but I do not know how to get the model tranny I have now. is it listed in manual or anywhere or do I have to like lift the hood and look somewhere. thanks for the help
A: There will be a tag (stamp ) on the side of the transmission. it is going to be either a 5r55w or a 4r70w. If it is a 4.0 liter then it will be the 5r55e the 5 liter engine only comes with the 4r70w
Hope this helps

Q: Where can I find a rear wiper arm for a 1999 Expedition?
I have checked several auto parts stores (online and off) and none specify a rear wiper arm for the 99 Expedition. Are there any other rear wiper arms on another Ford vehicle that would fit (like, say an Explorer)?
A: yer local junkyard. it may not be in perfect condition but its better than nottin, dont go with ebay, car parts over ebay are not good quality usualy, well for me anyway
Q: My husband’s car battery is dead
?
My husband is currently deployed which leaves the responsibility of taking care of the cars to me! And I know nothing at all about them. I neglected started his car every few days and now it seems as though the alarm system on his car has killed his battery. When I try to start it up it sounds like a wood pecker and he said it’s the battery.
Now he says that I have to jump start it but I have no clue how. I have the cables and we do have another vehicle that I drive regularly. I’ve tried looking up online how to jump start it but it’s kinda mumbo jumbo to me. Could you explain step by step how to properly jump start a car please?!
And in case it makes a difference, the car that is dead is a 1999 Lincoln Continental and I’ll be jumping it with a 1997 Ford Explorer. I didn’t know if that mattered.
I know what the batteries look like and I want to do this myself. This is a skill I should know anyways. I shouldn’t have to run to a neighbor everytime something goes wrong.
Ok I’m confused. Some people say to hook positive to positive and negative to negative and others say positive to positive and negative to any rust-free metal on the dead battery car. Which is it???
Okay, Positive to dead battery, positive to good battery, negative to good battery, negative to any solid clean metal part on dead battery engine, may see a spark but normal, turn on good car and run for few minutes, try starting dead battery car, run for 20min. Remove jumper cables in reverse order.
Thank you all for your help! This is how I am able to get things done while my husband is gone and I really appreciate all of your advice!! I got it jump started with no issues since I did my research before attempting anything.
A: Buy or borrow jumper cables.
Make sure both cars have the keys turned off.
1. Connect a red cable end to the + (red) terminal on the Lincoln.
2. Connect the other end of the red cable end to the + (red) terminal on the Ford.
3. Connect the Ford end of the black cable end to the – (black) terminal on the Ford.
4. Connect the Lincoln end of the black cable to any piece of unpainted (bare) metal on the Lincoln. The engine, the frame, the inside of the fender, whatever works. It may spark when you do this. Do not connect the dead battery’s black terminal to anything, or it will be bad.
5. Start the Ford. Let it run for three minutes.
6. Start the Lincoln. Let it run for three minutes. If it doesn’t start, try the lights or stereo; if those aren’t working, the cables aren’t hooked up right, make sure there’s not rust or paint or something between the clamps and metal.
7. Remove the cables in the reverse order that you put ‘em on. (Black Lincoln, Black Ford, Red Ford, Black Lincoln).
8. Smile.
