Q: i need help finding a new or used 1994 ford explorer transmission?
does anyone know a site where i can find any?
ive looked everywhere and i cant find anything? :[
A: Tey your phonebook and look under junk yards or salvage yards, they will be able to either sell you one or point you in the right direction
Q: I'm thinking about getting a used 1994 ford explorer. i want some feed back on the performance of this vehicle?
what is the gas mileage like and performance of this year of vehicle.
A: My dad has the same car.... it runs very well, and has lasted us thing long so far (he has been the only owner). The controls are all nice, and it is pretty spacious for a truck. Overall, it is a great car (and has been for our family): we haven't had any problems with it yet!
Q: What size bolt is used to hold on a tensioner on a 1994 Ford Explorer?
A: lost it huh ? probably a 9/16 of 5/8
Q: 1994 ford explorer passenger side door will not open with key?
I just bought a 1994 ford explorer from my neighbor. It runs great but as with any used car there are a few "issues." I noticed today, the passenger side door does not open with a key. It goes in, turns, but does nothing. I can open the door once I unlock it with the power locks, from inside and out. I am guessing I need a new mechanism for it, how much does it cost to have these installed, or is there any way to get it working otherwise?
A: you might need a new latch.but first Pull the door panel and see if you do not have any lose parts in the latch area.
Q: Can the egr valve be blocked off on a 1994 ford explorer with a 4.0 emf?
i want to remove the egr that is faulty on my 1994 ford explorer can a standard blockoff plate be used to rid the car of the egr valve . how do you block off the tube at the manifold. what are the consequences of blocking it all off .
A: Use the block off plate and bend the tube closed, but it will not pass a emission test that way.
Q: 1994 Ford Explorer - repair or buy new(er) car?
I have a 1994 Ford Explorer bought used 5 years ago, in the past 12 mos I've spent over 2500 in repairs, otherwise great car and my dog loves the back for herself. Now, I need radiator work and if the sealant doen't work a intake head gasket. Ford people, Should I look into continue repair or look into something new or used?
Car has 106K was 55K when I bought it Oct 03. Just found out the place who did my radiator flush July 07, did not hook up the overflow/resevoir hose to the right place. My new mechanic has placed a sealer in the intake gastic and we are hoping it works. Would rather save for hard times than buy a car.....
But will do what is necessary to get to work and back. Public trans isn't an option, here it leave at 5 to be a work at 7 but is only 6 miles.
A: Reallistically it depends on the mechanic and how far you want to continue to invest in your vehicle. Your describing a common problem that happens to the 4.0 motors whn they reach that age. Your vehicle is almost 15 years old. Corrosion and wear will only continue to create further problems. If you can perform some repairs as a dyi then long term may not be too bad. If you are having to take everything to a shop, hen you can probrably expect more repairs down the road. If your pushing over 150 thousand on mileage and can afford a new investment I say save yourself some headaches and go for something better. Good Luck!
Q: Can anyone help me with my 1994 Ford Explorer...temperature issues...
?
I have a 1994 Ford Explorer which I just purchased used a week ago, 82K miles, seemed to be in good working condition. Yesterday, on the highway, I noticed that the temperature gauge keeps hopping back and forth between quite cool and very near the hot line. (Actually, the vehicle has a "NORMAL" range on the temperature meter, and the needle keeps hopping between the "N" and the "L".) This is occurring in towns and citites as well, not just on the highway. Any clue?!? I know it's hard without seeing the vehicle. I checked the coolant levels and they're at normal. Can't find any leaks. I know very VERY little about vehicles, so any help you can give in Lehman's terms will be appreciated. Thanks in advance for any advice you can give. Maybe there's just something wrong with the gauge itself? I'm pretty stumped.
Well, the other gauges do fluctuate a bit (the battery charge indicator especially), but not nearly as much as this darn temperature gauge. I do kind of suspect the electrical aspect of this, and I appreciate your advice.
A: replace the thermostat and try again. If problem persist drain coolant and add fresh new coolant. Don't add water to it the coolant comes pre mixed.
Q: Can I use a slimjim to open the door of my 1994 Ford Explorer Sport with power locks?
Two people have told me I'd mess up the locking mechanism and one person has told me that's not true. So which is it? Thanks!
Oh, and if I can use it, what is the best place to start inserting it - front, rear or middle area of the window? Thanks again!
A: You can. Passenger door. 4 " from the rear edge of glass =^ )
Q: how to wire up a 1989 5.0 into a 1994 ford explorer?
i was wanting to know if there is anyway to wire up a 1989 5.0 into a 1994 ford explorer thats 2 wheel drive do i need to swap out whole harrnesses or can i use a newer explorer computer and add the two extra fuel injector wires?
i dont live in california and where i do live there are no emmissions testing and i plan to use the convertor and rest of the exhust may even run duals with both covertors and mufflers havent made it that far yet
A: all you need to do to make the motor fit is change the intake and maybe the computer if its a Eddie bower explorer it has 24 lb injectors and you would half to change the mass air also iv done this same thing kinda i took a 1994 explorer motor and put it in a 90 mustang . if it is a 6 cyl. you have to change alot
Q: Why does my 1994 Ford Explorer brakes have no pressure and go to floor and very slowly brake?
Currently the Explorer is having severe transmission slips, and I think both Oxygen Sensors are broken so it runs very poorly. And now when I poot my foot on the brake I push it all the way to floor very easily, and the brakes barely engage. Sometimes I will have to use the emergency brake to stop the vehicle from rear ending someone.
A: sounds to me like air in the lines.... the whole brake system is suposed to be a sealed system,... if yu'v ever been low on brake fluid, or loosened the fittings, or crimped, ruptured, or cracked a line, yu probably have a failed system..
PUMPING the pedel will give you results, but, wont FIX the problem...
Eventually... [ SOONER than later !!..], yur brake peddel will be useles all together, and you WONT have any at all..
Check yur system for leaks,… indication of oil inside the drums.. oil spot where you normally park… fresh oil slick in the engine compartment where the reservor is located.. around the master sylender.. and the slaves.
Get some carb cleaner and warm the engine up and sprey it in the vaccume lines to afferm or diss the sensor problems… sprey the PVC valve as well…, if cleaning out the vaccume lines, and injectors systems, and intake dont fix the rough running, then yu probably do have a sensor gone south on the rig.
Be safe, not sorry!!
Q: i have a 1994 ford explorer that wont start when it is cold?
the truck wont start when it is cold if i use starting fluid after awhile it will start and when it gets up to temp its ok until it cools down then it wont start can someone help me please.
A: Well, this is a fuel injected engine, so don’t look for a choke, or a cold start valve, there aren’t any. Those functions are controlled by the computer. The throttle position sensor (TPS) is not to blame either. You may have a sticking IAC (idle air control). This is a small motor which controls air into the throttle body. A coolant temperature sensor may also be to blame.
I would lean more towards a trouble in the ignition system. It really sounds like worn, mis-gapped or wrong heat range spark plugs.
Heres a tip to narrow it down; try and start the truck cold, no starting fluid, for a minute or two. Then remove a spark plug and see if it is wet, (gas fouled). If it is replace them. They spark well when hot, and enough to burn ether (start fluid) cold, but not un-vaporized gasoline.
Q: The transmission went out on my explorer and I can’t find another one, can I use one from any other vehicle?
Is there another kind of transmission that can be used in a 1994 Ford Explorer? The transmission went out on my explorer and I can’t find another one, can I use one from any other vehicle?
A: you could probably use one from a vehicle that has the same engine as your explorer, like a ford ranger for example
Q: 1994 Ford Explorer water in gas tank!!!?
Ok, friends… I could use some help. Heres the deal. I have a 1994 Ford Explorer. Somehow, it got about a gallon (maybe less) of water dumped into the gas tank. I have no idea what to do about it. I have gotten advice on this issue, and I an getting a million different answers. I have heard ” Drain the gas tank”, “get anti freeze for your gas tank, and then fill it up with premium, and POOF problem fixed” I have heard “guess what, buddy…you are screwed” LOL
I am really at a loss on this issue. I have NO CLUE what I am supposed to do. If anyone could give me advice on this issue, or just tell me how to fix this damn problem… I would appreciate it SO MUCH!!! Thanks for reading, and thanks a million for all of your help!
((Please help me, I’m a tiny little woman! hehe))
How did the gas get in there… Well, it goes a little something like this… 5 years ago, I married a man. There it is. LOL
He thought it was gas. It…wasnt. The gas can had been sitting out in the rain… and it didnt have a cap on it.
Also, I live in Indiana, and it is very cold at this time.
A: the water goes to the bottom, so if you have a drain plug, pull it and let the water out, when you start getting clean gas, put the plug back. If you don’t, and your sure it’s a gallon, you better pull the tank and clean it out..
there was a old movie where a girl goes for a ride with a guy in a hotrod and she wanted him to stop and neck, so she poured her coke in his tank and he didn’t know what to do, she showed him how to unhook the fuel line at the carb and crank the motor till the coke/water was all out and then reconnected the line and they were on their way.. I think the girl was Shelly Fabres
You could try that, but with fuel injection and expensive filters I’m not sure if they will be ok.. just unhook a fuel line and turn on the ignition and watch it pump the water out..
after you are done there will be a small amount still in there, but you can add some products that contain alcohol to absorb it..
Q: Ticking Valves on a 1994 Ford Explorer?
can this be repaired or would it be smarter for my grandma to purchase a used vehicle. everyone i spoke with said it may cost 5,000 or up to repair it and no one even wants to mess with it. tell me your honest opinion? she doesn’t want to buy a car if she doesn’t have to, so if it can be repaired tell me what needs to be done? Thanks
A: I had the same problem with my 96 ford probe a few years back and the repairs is worth more than the actual car. She should just buy another 94 explorer which is half the price of the repairs.
Q: Help installing in-dash DVD player in 1994 ford explorer?
I have a 1994 Ford explorer that currently has a aftermarket stereo but the person who i bought the truck from didn’t use a wiring harness they just cut the wires and hooked up the stereo. I don’t know if the wiring harness even matters but my problem is that I want to install a in-dash DVD player and in order for it to work I have to connect the parking brake safety wire. My problem is that I have no idea where this wire is. A friend of mine got lucky with his 2004 Expedition because it came factory with video so the parking brake wire was already there behind the dash. But in a 1994…I’m not so lucky. Can someone please help.
A: The wire should be just on a switch just above your park brake. There will be 2 wires. One constantly powered, the other is only powered when the brake is on. Hook to that one.
